POETRY OF THE WEEK

POETIC NEEDS

this world needs to find love, peace and grace
it needs compassion, it needs a helping hand
it needs to find the grace within a peaceful wind
I have a hope for the betterment in a winning stance
along these lines of thoughts, may goodness enhance
a world so free in spiritual living and giving
there is nothing that cannot be achieved
when positive notes can bend and weave
to shatter the thoughts of hate and greed
mankind has so much potential
but goodness is very essential
to bring us to a God-like condition
I cry tears of poetic visions
of a world that comes to its senses
and finds a truth for common ground
for we all have the potential to astound
in greatness of good and charity
this is my wish for all men to see
that we can all live in peace and harmony
my heart bleeds these words of poetic vision
find your goodness in truthful living
give just for the sake of giving

She Sat Upon A Throne

Sanda had been shaken, I know this to be true. She was forsaken by a man Who hurt her deeply, too. Her tears fell as raging rivers Her fears tell in her shivers Still she loves the givers Never that old draken, Deceiver of me and you. I chanced upon her in a lonely night of black As I came to the forum of ideas She sat upon a throne She dispensed wisdom as a fountain She scattered bright gems of beauty Prismatic flashes of love I wondered who this woman was I pondered on her nature I discovered… Continue

TUESDAY

Tonight may be cold and hollow And the wind howls as it blows Though the warmth insisted in me Thinking of you, lately I've been One summer weekday Never was the ordinary Like the heat of the sun's glare I got goose bumps from thy stare Must have been I that took steps closer Towards your gravity, I was pulled over And the moment you touched my chin I felt like wax melting on a kiln With teases of your fingers against my skin Unfamiliar excitement surged within The blood in my veins began to… Continue

The Quick Goodbye

I don’t know what had happened, But I’m sure that you’ll explain, It hurts me so very much, To be a major pain. I left you much too quickly, But I did log right back in, Then you went away, So, I logged back out again. Oh where, oh where Has my little love gone? Oh, where can her data be? Somewhere, somewhere, Where avatars are and Hiding away from me. Someday I will find her. Electronic that I am. There she will be, When I do a new IM. © 2008 C. M. Baker III

Please Lord...

Please Lord… Let me live now, Lord, in joy and in peace Knowing that one day all sorrow will cease. Please make my light shine so brightly today It can guide other pilgrims in Thy holy ways. I know when it’s time I’ll want to go home But don’t let me cross over or die here alone. Place angels beside me to comfort a while Then come Lord and guide me across that last mile. You’ve given me words in lines without end. You’ve helped me write poems to share with my friends. I’ve set down my praise… Continue

Maybe Someday

I saw the night strolling on the mountains. I saw the day creeping to the sea. I heard darkness falling, I heard lightning calling, Some way it will be. I saw the seas shrinking into puddles. I saw the sky breaking over me. I heard adults sighing, I heard children crying, Some say it will be. I saw lovers holding on one another. I saw soldiers killing in a spree I heard music floating, I heard raucous gloating, Some day it will be. When the lava hardens into crystal rust, When the earth cools… Continue

Heaven Awaits

As children, we are often told, That when we do die, Once we are old, “You may have to wait, but You will go to heaven’s gate.” In many times, it has been said, “Say your night prayers Beside your bed. You might have to wait, but Then you go through heaven’s gate.” “Where is heaven?” children wonder. Our eyes roll up to Look up yonder, “We may have to wait, but Way up there is heaven’s gate.” The children think, the children sigh. A tiny tear drops, From a tiny eye. They may have to wait, but… Continue

I Heard Her Voice Calling In The Stars

I heard her voice calling. I heard love in the wind, When angels were falling Through time with no end. I listened, I harkened, To my glorious muse. Enchanted, Enraptured By her joyous news. “Have hope,” she commanded. “Have faith, and with no doubt, “The secret,” she whispered, “Is to love with a shout.” I harkened, I listened, To my mistress, my muse. Though saddened and maddened, I had nothing to lose. I hear her voice calling, From Venus, from Mars, As angels are falling, As the rain fro… Continue

It Is You

My ladylove walked the path, Gently gliding into my mind. I watched her dancing there. I saw her dancing. She stretched her arms to me. Gracefully beckoning, As she twirled and whirled The small world within me. She spun me in spirals Into the dawning glow. She twisted me, She would not let go. I smelled the color of green Summer apples. I heard the color of blue In the wind. I felt the color of red In the fire of my heart. It was you! It was you. To My Darling By The Sea

To my darling by the sea, It was very nice for me To read the note, I received from thee. Describing your wishes and How you caught some fishes and How you threw them back, Thinking they were me. I wrote in my last letter, That sages, who knew better, Said apes came from monkeys As fishes from the sea. I know this made you wonder, Since I was one league under, That one of those little fishies, Just might have once been me. © 2008 Charles M. Baker III

You Sat Lonely On A Hill

You sat lonely on a hill gazing into my eyes, But, I was never there. The wind and summer sun caresses The whitened tresses Streaking through your Satin hair. You sat lonely and watched the moon arise, Yet, I could not see you. The night in her ebon gown redresses The grieving stresses As all the stars come Crashing down. You walked alone and crying in the skies, And you thought you saw me. Then you turned and to my surprise, I heard your thoughtful inner sighs, And all you saw was My appariti… Continue

My Ghost

For years I have endured, living inside a vessel A shell of what’s not, the best seen ever Imperfect beauty, secured my divine soul At the end of my time, the cover got spoiled My ghost emancipated and wandered everywhere Through a hole in my heart, my soul has escaped All dissipated because you came way too late I’m free! Supposedly, but my sspirit still seeks Seeped through your window, invisible to the night’s glow The shadow of loss haunts me as I finally found abode You felt the cold as I… Continue

Suwannee Serenade

Suwannee Serenade Lazy Days, Cicadas hummin’. Sittin’ on the dock a strummin’ Soulful river songs on my old guitar. Hound dog howlin’ beneath my car. Got the fishin’ pole at easy anchor. Would take the boat, but last storm sank ‘er. Summer breezes finally found me Shooin’ gnats that hover ‘round me. Pull up my line to take a look, Nothin’ there but an empty hook. Better figure out what I should say When I tell the ol’ lady “No catch-of-the-day!” © 2008 by Ruth Nott… Continue

A Touch of Spice

A Touch of Spice Every day I take my pen and scratch a line or two, But my everyday adventures are too seldom and too few. Sometimes I have to improvise and weave a tale I rue Just to make life come alive for my readers such as you. Instead of eating oatmeal all alone and by myself, I may have said Madonna came by to talk about her health While I prepared our crepe suzettes from flour off the shelf. Which I purchased at the Taj Mahal and cost me half my wealth! Instead of reading a book to wh… Continue
